How Can I help you was a film that was to be less than 30 seconds, include both 2d and 3d elements and produced from story to finished film in 10 weeks. With this in mind, the characters for this project were created to be simple, easily readable and a tad bit strange.
Gerald
"How can I help you?"
Due to the intense time crunch, making a robot that looked handsome and moved fluidly would be almost impossible. This limitation, however, inspired less of a handsome robot and instead a more nightmare inducing one with a limited rig to keep production easy. His mouth is played by my own mouth filmed on camera to add an extra layer of creepiness to the character.

A small test I did early in production to see how the mouth would work and to visualize how I wanted to animate Gerald.
Mr. Shadyman
30 seconds is not enough time to establish a full character by having them talk about themselves. Mr Shadyman was therefore named and designed to look instantly suspicious without much explanation.
I don't know what illegal activity he is actually up to, but if you see him please call the cops.
